+1 for the Launchpad + ZeRO SL mkII (although you've probably already bought your setup by now right?! ;-)

This is my setup - automap is friggen great in my opinion because you CAN use it to 'automap' to plugins / devices as it is intended AND (a lot of ppl don't realise this) you can setup up to 16 different completely configurable user-mappings for yourself (called automap universal or something like that)

This is how I map most of my stuff to live - I can assign any CC#, note or "keyboard combo" to any button, fader, encoder etc. It's REALLY VERY customisable. I would have said hands-down that this combo is superior to the APC, but I did not realise that the APC faders/knobs actually follow the focus (red box) in live - That would be a GREAT feature to see on the SL mkII - but I just manually map the faders at the beginning and I can have pages and pages and pages of faders if I want to, on 16 different midi channels (I tend to use one midi channel for my studio work, one for live performance, one for DJ performance - so I still have 13 unused!) and using automap you can set the encoder "steps" also - so if I have an encoder controlling the LFO on something and I only want values of 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 I can make that encoder only have 3 steps, it's hard to explain how this works - but it means it jumps PAST 1/4t and 1/8d and will only ever 'land on' the values which I want - which I'm not sure the APC is able to do!
But having jammed with my cousin (bringing a second launchpad into the mix) I found that the launchpad really benefits from having a mate - it's ultimate - you can launch / record clips with one launchpad, control all aspects of the mix on the SL mkII and play notes / use MLR or step sequencers or whatever on the second launchpad, really was a lot better than I thought it could be!

Novation seem to be on the ball - although please do not waste your money on their automap for iphone - THAT is just a joke!!

Apc40 plus hanz's scripts are all you will ever need. Ever.

What's the use for the second launchpad?
Simply extend it so you have an 8x16 matrix?

you'll find out soon enough that you want 1 grid for the clips..
and another for other shenanigans...

of course with 1 launchpad you can switch pages..constantly
but that gets old very fast..

you need at least 2...

I'm also looking to buy my 2nd launchpad ..

Yep - one launchpad is your "grid controller"

The second is your "performance pad" - be it for drums, monomer/max apps, triggering fx and such or whatever - but it's just TOO hard to jump from pressing "record" in session view to the first kick drum of the loop your trying to record...

Two, makes this quite an easy task ;-)

I'd consider replacing my lp and remote 0 mk2 if that would do the following:

Colors match clip colors.
Faders follow clip grip.
Auto map to parameters in a live instrument, ie pages of 8 knobs mapped to macros, plugins, etc.

Is any of this possible?

I dont have one, but I know what they do. Except for the clip color matching thing, it will do anything that an APC40 or Launchpad can do. However just like those you need a custom remote script to get something tailored to your desire.

Agreed, the OHM is simply amazing. Love the layout. But, the pricetag is way to steep imo. If the knocked $200 off, I`d be all over it.

At least they aren't as steep as monome.

I'm confused -- how do you expect to be able to use a mixer to control track volumes? Does your audio interface have as many stereo outputs as you have tracks?

Ohm looks the best for sure - I'd probably have one or two if not for the pricetag, but I think the "block" would be a nice alternative with a second controller for the "mixing" (encoders & faders) - the ohm seems like a weird setup there with 4 faders per side rather than 8 in a strip... ? In my opinion.

When asking about a launchpad and "mixer" I assumed we were talking about a midi device capable of controlling lives built in mixer - having to buy a soundcard with many outputs and a real mixer with many outputs is SOOO NOT gonna be in the price range to compare with an APC40 ;-)
