for live shows, just have it running in the background. have some sort of vocal or hit sample that you tastefully throw in to tie your set together. maybe some hi hats or percussion loops - whatever you want. the good thing about the mpc and track mute is that its super simple to use and instantaneous. it doesnt take up cpu which would free up whatever you got going on your computer for more complex stuff.

how big can the streamed samples be? can i stream a whole song divided in 4 tracks ? or is is it more for loops or hits (for example mpc1000)

yeah the track mute / un-mute feature is brilliantly simple.... so easy to jam a whole song out this way. I must say im far quicker on the MPC than any computer software when making tunes... I can finish a full track in anything from 30ins - 2hrs....

I Like to have the option of getting away from the computer as much as I love Ableton

I am interested in how people are integrating MPCs with Live. I have been using Live for 5 or 6 years now, but have only just got an MPC1000. I'm probably not the usual MPC user, I don't really like using it to make beats. I really got it for playing live, to use it to trigger two synth modules (Roland U220 and D110), as well as play some sequences. I am trying to move my songs over to the MPC, it works, but is pretty time consuming.

At the moment I am getting a Live set, deleting all the software instruments, then connecting up the MPC1000 and synth modules. Then I'm assigning and sending MIDI over different channels, via the MPC, to the modules. Once I've got that sorted, I'll then export each of the MIDI clips, put them onto the flash disk, then assemble it all again on the MPC. It takes a couple of hours to do a song, and sometimes it can be very fiddly.

Wondering if there are any faster ways of doing things? The ultimate would be a plug-in or something that could export the notes and song structure from Live to a file that the MPC could read. While I wait for that dream to come true, I better just get on with the exporting...

after you've got your song done, you might want to try just resampling the parts into the mpc, it's quick and very simple and won't take as long,
