Re: Apple Magic Trackpad: How is it with Ableton Live?
If it's anything like as reliable via bluetooth as my built in trackpad in my macbook it's fantastic. I now regularly suffer from tourettes whenever I go back to a normal PC trackpad.
(WTF? I have to click the "back" button in my browser to go back in explorer, or in the web browser? How quaint! Why can't I scroll up and down AND left and right. How do I get to all the windows behind this one? And don't well me Winkey-Tab! f**king bl$^dy old-fashioned c$££... etc)
BTW, never thought much of the Magic Mouse, it's too small and curved for the instant flow of all your fingers all over it without thinking.

Not keen on it either, though I do really like the concept of it - when it works well I do like its functionality - Im Just used to *far* more responsive and precise mice on a PC and the bluetooth reliability kind of sux on it. A bit too much of style over function. I often find it causes live to suddenly jump to the right as well - guess cos Im touching right side of the mouse slighly when moving it.Piplodocus wrote:BTW, never thought much of the Magic Mouse, it's too small and curved for the instant flow of all your fingers all over it without thinking.
Though while Im in winge at apple mode - wish they would revamp the keyboard as well and give it proper keys - real keys - not laptop keys - sick of typing like a f****** monkey and having to spend twice as long correcting what I type!
Have to admit, apple do make far better trackpads than anyone else and make way better use of them.
Nothing to see here - move along!

was a skeptic on the trackpad but then used it at work for a few weeks and its incredible...now a mouse feels old n' busted.

And while we're at it, why don't the Apple external keyboards light up like the keyboards on the MacBook Pro? Been waiting for that for years...

Re: Apple Magic Trackpad: How is it with Ableton Live?
Trackpad is awesome. I recently realized that even if I have the space for hooking up a mouse to my laptop (while away from my desk), I actually still prefer the built-in trackpad. I'm so used to the gestures now, especially three finger dragging. Dragging was always the annoying thing, but now it's actually easier with a mac trackpad then even with a mouse and no harm to your wrist. It's also very precise, I really don't find any improvement in precision using a mouse now.
And for Ableton specifically, it's great. Ableton's mixer and device parameters don't respond to mousewheel scroll (or trackpad two-finder drag) which really sucks, but at least you can use three-finger drag now with the trackpad, which I much prefer to using a mouse. I really would like to find a way to switch two-finger drag and three-finger drag system wide, because I'd rather scroll with two fingers as it doesn't have to be as precise. Then dragging could be two fingers. Maybe this magic prefs can do it?

Good to hear the trackpad love! Has anyone here NOT tried BetterTouchTool? Absolutely essential free app for any trackpad (or magic mouse) users!
