Sorta defeats the purpose of free-running oscs...real analog fansconsider that one of the great things about analog, after all.

That's why many VAs (hard and soft) let you switch between free running and "key restart" on oscs and LFOs.

well, but the free running oscillators have been a problem in the 'real' analog world too, not just an advantage. The lovely TR-808 has no free running oscillators for all the low frequency stuff btw. The drums would simply never sound right. The oscillators in the 808 do start in phase each time a drum sound is triggered.

r.

Exactly. Why not take advantage of the year 2011, and have the analog osc's retrigable. :)

Then use something that's not trying to be analog!

This is the kind of thing that cracks me up about the whole digital vs. analog debate

Why shouldnt i use something i love the sound of? Wierd statement tbh. Im not running a digital vs analog debate either..so..what.. ?
Im just saying, why staying to the old path now that we are digitally controlled. why not take a step forward. :)
Been using the Creamware Modular with the FleXor addon before, and it had such juicy analog oscillators, that were re-trigable, and u could even set the phase. Incredible sound.
I love FM synths as well, been using them for many years, but the sound is different. Wouldnt you say? ;)

I can just dream about this beeing sorted, right?
Wrong. See this thread

Not sure whats wrong, but yea.. as i suspected. Just try and do sync and set the other osc to 2 oct down.. snapple and pop. Oh well, it sounds great if not using any special feature. So, its not unusuable as i might have said earlier. :P

What I meant was you can dream about it being sorted, but it won't be, as AAS aren't going to fix it.

Yeap, expected as much. Their loss tho!
