Wait, that means if 130 each employees are being paid at least EUR30,000/y ,probably more, it cost EUR3,900,000/y to run it. Plus, company have to pay office rent, advertising cost and etc. Futhermore they have to pay taxes. They can't run business over two year with that revenues. Otherwise they have to scale-down that development team to one consists of ‘Small numbers?exceptional talent'. Well, are there still these kind of person?

they probably continue to sell some licenses to all the kids with cracks that stop working after a couple of months. and to all the guitar players that got a live-lite with their last pod. There are many many musicians out there without Live, I doubt that they rely so much on upgrade circles.

Let's see which kind of hardware they are selling with live9 then. Now that Steinberg got their own controllers, and NI is selling software that is designed to work with their own controllers, ableton will probably do a similar move.

its been allready 2 and a half years since 8 was released.

Live is the last things that is yet to let me move on since my divorce 2 and a half years ago.

Yep, I've managed to make too many tracks with it. Bring on something new that I have to learn!

You can't write or update code if you don't have programmers.

I purchased live 8 and still enjoying it.

When time will come for live 9, I'll see how it goes and what's new...not before

And by waiting I'm making music. To be honest, I'm not concerned about a new version of live

I see 'dedicated hardware' as the next step..
having everything in the machine sucks balls..
and using the same devices (mouse/keyboard) to interact with specialized software is lame..


..in the same breath they will finally kill MIDI as it's no longer needed..(for sw)
seriously.. a slow clock and a range of 8 bit is nothing to be proud of in the year 2011..
each controller should have a native propriety protocol to build controllers for..
and obviously the one that's the most tightly integrated will win for that specific software..
so far..
NI have been the first to pick up on this rather simple equation..and take it all the way
(in the form Kore/Maschine/TraktorS2) ..
NI hardware is way better integrated than Launchpad or APC..period.

the reason?? is either because of development costs of the hardware..
or a priority of Novation/Akai..wanting to be able to(n) sell it to different markets other than Live users..
either way..

Ableton will be better off having total control over it's dedicated HW ..
perfecting the UI..
(even have their own take on phone and pad remote apps..the 'edge' is theirs after all)
in order to be in full control of the 'user experience'..
by now .. they must have acknowledged that this is gonna be necessary for them to stay on top..
