I think I'm with you on this one. If i just wait till next summer then stability is better and i get it for half price. If the only updates are guitar rig 5, kontakt 5. No FM8 update, absynth. What worries me is that alot of things are going to get dropped.

Hopefully not.

But for not I'm not really needing 240 GB of stuff to search through instead of making and practicing music

well regardless of the Komplete package, I'm just psyched about Kontakt 5 and quite curious what improvements / new content / etc. it will include...

also curious about "transient master" .. hmm.

Don't know where the ads are from, but here in the states NI are saying wait until Monday for any "announcement" meaning I couldn't get any info out of NI about the upgrade path if you buy a K7 upgrade now...

I do find it strange that Kontakt and Guitar Rig are getting yet another full version upgrade while fm8 and Massive haven't changed in about 5 years.

I had K5 and only upgraded for the new version of Absynth. Also because of the summer sale!

They make more money out of the sample packs I'm guessing and people aren't willing or it's too easy to share freebies of presets or the synths?

My biggest problem with this is the week long install process - urgh!

Maybe the HD option is suddenly attractive - and when the hell are they ggoing to give you rebates on the shit you allready have???

I love my NI stuff...
although I lean towards upgrading every other version..
I'm also a synth guy so I tend not to use the sampled content as much
I still like having it.. it's useful ..

Definitely a good policy if you prefer synths. They don't update their synths much anymore, they are quite focused on sample content these days it seems. Though they have added to Reaktor recently.

... NI Komplete 8 is coming this September!
Surprise, surprise...

I don't own Komplete yet and I do have to say that it's actually very tempting to take the plunge now, since the products I am interested in from that bundle all get an upgrade! But I'm still afraid that I won't be even using 10% of all their stuff and it will distract me too much from producing music!
Maybe any of you guys can convince me I should buy Komplete 8, because it will make my music sound much better and I will use everything from this bundle...

I just read an interview in Computer Music magazine, with one of the guys from NI. In that he says that the majority of new developments are going to be centered around either Reaktor, Kontakt or Guitar Rig (synths, samplers and effects) and you can kind of see this policy in effect with the recent releases of Razor, session strings pro and the new vintage compressors.

It is a shame however (from a synth perspective) as although Reaktor is great and easy for developers to use, you can't create the powerhouses that are Massive, Absynth and FM8 inside it, as it's extremely CPU hungry!
