Which should be solvable but don't get your hopes up yet; I also cannot rule out that I overlooked something. But we're going to get close enough, that I'm certain off.
Peter, I second most of your conclusions, but I'm not sure about the last.
Max said that it works fine outside of Live when using the VSTs stand alone.
Or his audio settings are completely messed up in Live while being fine
in Windows...

Max, we should track down the incoming MIDI data a bit more.
So you said the MIDI indicator on the right is flashing.
Does ist flash ALWAYS when you hit a key on your Keyrig, but
often you don't hear the note being played or only when you
hear one of the notes as you described ?

What CPU load does Live show you when you experience these problems ?

When you experience this problem please remove the VST synth from the
track and replace it by this:
http://www.freewebs.com/wallyaudio/VSTMMon.zip

It's a VST MIDI monitor so we can chack if the MIDI data reaches
the VST. So when you play some notes, are they ALL shown in the
MIDI monitor or only some ?
It always flashes when I hit a note on the keyrig, but I don't hear the notes being played, and I can see the notes in the vst arn't moving either and no sound is getting output.

My CPU stays around like 2-7%. 2% when I'm trying to play a note.

And as for that VST when I try to open it, live says "Live has occurred a serious problem. Live will now shut down when this message box is closed"\

Another edit : I just got MIDI ox, it's the same kind of software, and it sees everything I'm doing and shows it well.

majicmonk wrote:Its either a dodgy python script for that keyboard (because you said the midi received light flashes on live when a key is pressed on the keyboard)

or

The keyboard is faulty. (test it by downloading midi ox, and viewing whats being output by the keyboard before it hits live.
I thought the keyboard was faulty too, but it works with VSTs in stand alone, so I can't be that faulty hehe

Try and get hold of a python script for ylur controller and put it in the midi remote folder and then select that one instead in the dropdown menu in the midi preferences. If thats not it i'd say uninstall and reinstall live. If it still doesnt work then check your computer meets lives system requirements. If it does, try your keyboard on another computer, if it works on that, re-install the operating system.

You could also make sure your using 32 bit vsts, refresh the plugin list in live preferences, and try running live as administrator(right click on the live icon and choose run as administrator)

You could also do a system restore back to the point when it last worked ok. Then reinstall the plugs one by one and see which one causes the problems.

You could also try asio for all incase its a dodgy soundcard driver. Youll probably find asio for all will improve your latency aswell. First try updating your sound card drivers from the soundcard manufCturer.

All of those ran through my mind before I tried, except for the OS restart, cause this is my 2nd time I have this problem, and last time I did the OS restart (factory default) and it worked, so I'll do that again and install everything one by one and test it to see what happends

As to the rest; I don't have much else to add to what has been said above.

Good luck and do keep us posted please!
I just spent all night getting ableton back on my PC from the system factory restore, so I have to reinstall Komplete 7 - which I'll do tomorrow as soon as I get up - and I'll let you (and everyone else) know what happends :)

I had the same problem. Upper right signal light indicating that Ableton is getting the signal from my KeyRig 49 but no sound when other inputs (computer keyboard) is working fine. I used the pull down in MIDI/sync preferences to the left of the input. My "port type" was switched to Direct. When I changed it back to MME I was in business. Hope this helps.

Please help. Keys 11-14 on my MIDI no longer are responding to the samples assigned to them within Ironman 808. The Keys work just feel as if I unassigned them. Not sure what to do

Hmmm... where to start.... Let me copy/paste the usual intro.

- What is your Controller?
- What keys are 11-14? Are they notes, pads, launch control switches?
- What is your version of Live?
- What is "Ironman 808"?
- Maybe What is your OS?

At a guess I would say you have them MIDI MAPPED (CTRL + M) to something which is now disabling their default behaviour. Check your MIDI Mapping section (using the key combo just advised) and see if you have anything you may have accidentally learned.

Otherwise to progress further we probably need a few more details beyond "she broke, what to do"?

Thank you for your response. My MIDI is the KeyLAb 59 essential. Keys 11-14 are the far left first 16 keys number 11 -14 are labeled at the top. I have ableton 10, and Ironman is a drums sample kit. I am running all of this on a macbook pro. They have worked since I built all of this, but one day I must have remapped them I guess. I will try (CTRL + M) and see if I can figure it out. Thanks again. New to ableton and its super legit. Just learning the software is all.
