I would agree that a "simpler" midi controller is better, especially while you are still experimenting. If you ever want to take your dj'ing, re-mixing to a "pro" level then you can re-look at the matter. Getting overly complex devices in too early can have a negative effect on creativity and using the gear.

Awesome that you're stretching the controller-madness into other FX. Post some results at some point
