You can already do curved lines for automation after setting your break points you can hold down Alt to curve the automation line. You can also copy, cut and paste automation by opening the automation lanes under the track name and output/inputs section there's a plus button to do so. You can then tweak specifically the automation.

You realise that was from 2011 right?
