I've demo'd live 8 and it seems to work just fine, I've never really came across any bugs which I see people moaning about a lot on the forums but then again I don't use many 3rd party plugins which seems to be one of the main culprits.

Think I might just get 9, need to save a bit more money so by the time I've saved maybe 9 will be out :) ...I'm kinda thinking that with the reputation Live 8 had with bugs amongst it's users I'm sure they wouldnt release a buggy version of 9 so hopefully it's out when I have money!

Never say never gary, unless it comes to ignoring recent history ;)

By the sounds of things you've got time. When you hear Live 9 is announced, look into the grace-period policy and pounce on 8 if it's still in place.

Money well spent.

See Tone Deft's post count. He is just a ableton's sales partner who is doing stealth marketin on the forum and trolling over user's raw comment. Ableton's sales loss=his income loss. Otherwise just a leisured dumb fanboy. I'll recommend to ignore him anyway.

Then buy Logic Pro X. You will be happy.

There is nothing stealth about it. It's overt one sided extreme fan boy nonsense. He is the anti-3phase. It's either more than one person using the same account (which more than a few people have said) OR someone who never has time to use ableton cause he posts so many times in this forum. He does help people from time to time, but if anyone says anything against ableton you will be sure that he (they) will try to make you out to be an idiot.

To the OP, live 8 is much better than it was, but would wait (unless you need it right away) until after x-mas to see about 9.

Best of luck

audio interfaces often bring Ableton live lite with it. When it is time that could help for discounts.
It was the way I jumped on the bandwagon. Good luck,

Sorry I'm not bitten apple fag. I don't have plan to be in that prison forever. Win7 now got more power than the cider.

ah that makes sense. Then Ableton's mod is foolishfully allowing shared accout for unknow(at least for us) users(group). That's a tawdry moderation policy ever. Cheap.

I'm just worried that I pay and then Live 9 comes out and I will have to pay again to upgrade to that!

...so the question is, should I wait? hmmmm

Cheers
I would not get suite unless you really need to edit the instruments. If you are after the sounds only, there is a huge library in live 8 (not suite) that actually uses the instruments from suite (operator, sampler, electric ...) in instrument-racks that you can't unfold to get into the deeper editing. but you get lots of presets that use them.

If you really want to create your very own sounds with all of those instruments, then get suite.

Regarding the question if live9 is coming soon, well this is not known to most of us. But if you use live lite lot and bump into its limitations often, then get the full license NOW. It's a wonderful sequencing-DAW-meta-tool that I personally spend lots of time with and use all the time. Producing music, playing softsynths, remixing tunes, composing scores, fooling around, tweaking stuff, exploring possibilities ... it's endless. I would hate it so much if I only had 8 scenes or a limited number of devices ...

yeah, that's what's happening to me!
BUT: i've waited now so long for Live9, that all this waiting would have been in vain if i bought Live8 right now!!
That's just the way human psychology works!

Ableton should know that. And instead of making offers like: 'Buy Live8 know an get a few Retrosynths for free'
make an offer I just could not resist!
For example: Pay the price of Live8 now as a prepayment to the Live9 upgrade, and get an extended demo period!

Otherwise for the time beeing it just means: to cope with the limitations and hoping!
(and rely here and there on some good friends who have the real thing)

I am not sure wether there will be something as a live9 upgrade. maybe they are working on several products, e.g. iOS/Android versions for tablets, or a html5/web-based live-type-sequencer? Maybe Live9 will come bundled to hardware, as Maschine? The waiting has been so long that we can expect anything but a regular update.
