I didn't know it was frowned upon.... I thought it was pretty normal.
Mmmm. There have been a few people over the last few years who have done or are doing this. It certainly has not been frowned upon in the past. I think the difference is that some of these people have been here for a while and have been contributing members to the forum, or been seen to be taking part in the community. There are long time active members here who also advertise in the signatures either their services or goods related to audio. Probably like any community, you need to stick around for a while and let people get to know you.... :)

Yeah. Don't know why people are getting all upset. They are not jumping all over the thread about selling home made DIY MIDI controller kits.

a certain segment of posters complain about anything they can. it's Ableton's fault, if Live 8 wasn't so buggy... :x :x :x

Why do I smile

If you sell tutorial videos, some people will suggest you get better content from free random youtube videos as opposed to a carefully worked out tutorial series.

If you sell loops, the "pre-made loops is cheating" crowd shows up.

If you sell presets, you get the "learn to program a synth" crowd.

If you sell anything, there will always be some people calling you a spammer.

In the end, these people are bumping threads and keeping them on the frontpage for a while. So they provide a great service for people who want to get their stuff noticed.
If you're new here, the responses may be a bit hostile, but that is part of their charm.
If you're lucky they'll even go off topic and focus on a single reply to nitpick about or to take out of context.

Oh, and check out my videos, loops and presets :D
