Mmmm. There have been a few people over the last few years who have done or are doing this. It certainly has not been frowned upon in the past. I think the difference is that some of these people have been here for a while and have been contributing members to the forum, or been seen to be taking part in the community. There are long time active members here who also advertise in the signatures either their services or goods related to audio.
