+1, Yes, external gear manipulation really needs this.

+9001 - I would LOVE to make MC505 MUTE SWITCHES as controllers for Ableton
This uses SYSEX controllers

Re: SYSEX Messages
+1 For integrating our hardware synths better.
Re: SYSEX Messages
People are using them again. They set up loops on youtube and jam out stuff on the fly. Some of it is pretty goodTarekith wrote:Sniff, MC505 brings back soooo many memories.
Re: SYSEX Messages
It has to be said yet again. Please implement SysEx messages within Ableton. I don't see why they should get filtered out. They're not only super useful for those with external gear, but also useful for those of us who want to send MIDI Tuning dumps via SysEx to our softsynths (thinking Xen-Arts IVOR2 and others).
SysEx!!!!

If anyone wonders why I put up with using more than one DAW, it's because all of them have some issue that makes me

Re: SYSEX Messages
While it's possible, I think, with certain Max For Live devices, it would be both extremely useful and convenient to have this functionality built-in. All those decade old synths need something.
Of course you can use an app — that's what I do — but for putting Sysex data into the the set itself you need something working inside Live.

Re: SYSEX Messages
Thought in the buildup to the release of 10 I'd bump this ancient thread.
If the beancounters within the Ableton organisation thought they'd sell more units by including much needed features (by many at least), rather than attractive seeming fluff then they'd resource the developers to do it.
Sysex, polypressure, and multi channel midi are seen by them as legacy features of little interest(!)
MPE will not go away though, and they'll be forced to address the deficiency of the software's midi handling, which must run pretty deep because users have been howling about it for years and years, yet they don't address the issue. [/rant]

Re: SYSEX Messages
Live 10 does seem to allow SysEx, but in what was seen as the inevitable freaking downside to Max for Live when it was introduced, it looks as though we mere mortals are going to have to wait around for some poor sap to code up a SysEx librarian in M4L...
