Session View is kind of the canonical feature of Live. After Ableton's success, I think that a lot of "performance looper" software is going to spring up. FL has this, I think Sonar has something like it now, and I imagine that a lot of DAW software will be adding similar features.

Since copying each others' technical features is fairly commonplace, and there aren't a lot of general techniques that flat out require one particular DAW, I imagine that the major differentiating points are going to be implementation and interface. I'm interested to see what everyone comes up with.

Actually, I think Cakewalk (Sonar) was first at the session view thing... With 'Project 5'.

hmm. i also remember the live mode from years ago when fl was my main music creation thing.
now they just need a real mixer and real audio recording and editing.

As far as I know FL's mixer is far better than Live's. Dedicated mixier, solo, mute, stereo separation, reverse polarity, 3-band EQ, XY pan-vol pad, auto-pdc, etc.... Yeah but actually using that stuff is cumbersome, based on my brief experience with the demo. A lot of the controls and menus in FL are pretty rough, imho. If they had a user experience overhaul to tweak things into being easier to access and manipulate, it would...be great.

I don't know what cumbersome you discribed. Mixier? You even don't need menus or plugins, though Live requires for each task, to do stereo separation or reversing phase.

For audio editing, generaly speaking doing complexier editing it gets more combersome. No magical tool for it there (at present).

I deserted Fruity Loops for Ableton many moons ago but with this, and mac support, i may move back, or at least run them both.

imagine line deserve more credit for FL than they get... it is great software.

Mac support? Where? I don't think it will be never supported, I was a FL Studio user too.

Thanks to everyone who has showed interest in the FL Studio for Mac beta testing.

We have been working with CodeWeavers for the past year or so in developing a special version of FL Studio that runs in a customized Crossover wrapper (a Windows emulator/wrapper). This means that you DON'T need anything else (like a Windows installation, Boot Camp or CrossOver) to run FL Studio on Mac OSX. Just install FL Studio using the supplied .dmg and away you go!

yeah, despite being a big fan of the fruity interface in general, the mixer does let it down... mainly because it's so tiny! the menu system for adding effects is not ideal either, but not so much of an issue perhaps

i think the mixer interface is probably one of the last barriers to FL being taken seriously...

Have you used the mixer? Routing is a pain, and changing out plugins and presets with a drop down menu? Slow. And what do you mean you don't need menus? There's a menu for nearly every feature in FL Studio.

Are you saying to yourself? It has wider mixer. You can drag and drop plugins to replace and duplicate to other track. I don't understand Live's slicer is inside pop up 'menu' even it is important feature for not a few people. That's bulky to me. But it works. Fine to me because that's the reason menu exist as menu.

Also, while it's nice to have stereo separation on each channel, I personally prefer having it as its own plugin in the chain since1. you can place it anywhere in the chain, 3. it keeps things more organized and modular (e.g. you can put a Utility in a rack). Those are personal preferences though.

It's your personal taste. Some use mixer's EQ and some don't. You won't know how useful it is if you don't use this kind of mixer like Cubase. They are useful.

Sorry, ableton's stereo widener is toy. I can't comment on it.

And seriously, the tiny mixer interface in FL Studio is NOT good. It's a huge pain, and very limited (especially in routing) compared to pretty much every other DAW.

You seem you even don't do 'routing' yourself. How would you do when you use 5 synth for Lead A ,5 synth for Bass A, 3 synth for Pluck A, 2 Synth for Pad A, 2 Synth for Lead B, 2 synth for Pad B, 2 Synth for Pluck B and 5 synth for FXs? Do you really think to make 26 track lane for each part? I would rather not to 'route' this way if I didn't have to. You now realize exactly very limited. I understand friendliness of the drop down routing menu in the ableton.
