Ableton did not have a booth at Winter NAMM last year but rumor had it their employees were walking the show floor and networking.
I'm hoping they're up to something cool :)

my guess is they have gone as far as they can with the Live/performance product and are building a Serious DAW to rival Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools as a new seperate product.
Im guessing there will be a live 9 with maybe upgraded interface a couple of new featurs and not much else.
And a seperate product called Ableton Studio or something that will feature much better arranging and mixing facilitys.
its been far far too long for it just to be an upgrade for live and they must be feeling that the more they try to turn Live in to a studio DAW the worse it becomes for performace. Would make a lot of sense having seperate but somewhat compatable products.
Maybe something along the lines of how reason/record was manged.

LOL Maschine is so much more than a "drum machine". It's a more than a viable alternative to Live's session view. The level of integration with the dedicated tactile hardware is unmatched.

Which is exactly why I'm waiting to see what Ableton and their hardware partners come out with next. I hope they create something that fucking CRUSHES Maschine.
Come on, Abes, I'm rooting for you!

Yes, indeed. Let's do the exact opposite of what the Propellerheads did after realising how jaw-droppingly stupid splitting it up was. No, I think we can reasonably expect a 64-bit version with some serious interface improvements (like zooming individual sections, rearranging the screen layout, etc.), a more elegant way of routing effects - like, say, the LFO that everyone has been asking for since always, possibly some improvements in the MIDI editing area, maybe automation curves... And probably a bunch of effects that have been conceived with Max for Live.

Why predict when all the tools are in front of you ?
Let's hire some hacking group
Does a software company needs to create patents or some sort of public stuff for instance for new gear or software innovations ?

Maybe Logic X and Ableton 9are the same product.
Apple has scooped up DAW, video editing and 3D apps before?
