Same. Sound design's a pretty important part of music making to me and it's generally what begets everything else.
Sure, once the track's more complete I'll go back and tweak the sounds, but coming up with a good sound always comes first. I definitely couldn't sit there and lay out standard/general midi sounds into drum patterns and notes then go back and replace them with good sounds.
