I'll bet the admission to Live 9 that Bitwig is not an Ableton product.

Your right, let me be really clear, for it is the internet.

fx23, if Bitwig is an Ableton product I will either buy you a version of Bitwig or Live 9, your choice.

If Bitwig is not and Ableton product, you pay for my upgrade to Live 9 suite.

do you accept?

I dig it. Every time I read it I hear this funny voice in my head telling me to "simmerdown now, simmerdown."

 if Bitwig is an Ableton product monkies will fly out of my ass.

fx23 - I thought you were smarter than this. :?

so, now we have a Mexican standoff between Bitwig and Ableton. release Live and Bitwig takes more ideas from that and now that Bitwig has a press release Ableton are polishing Live 9 to take Bitwig's ideas.

...and the user base has to wait and wait and wait some more. Live 8 is great but every new release has at least two or three great new widgets.

Let's squash this one - Bitwig and Ableton are two different companies, and Bitwig Studio is not Live 9.

... off course! But my guess is:

Bitwig and Ableton have at least an agreement or even a joint venture!
Bitwig plays the marketing guy for Ableton, for in the end they have not much of a chance against Ableton!

i hope you are right because i like live but i need/want some of the major feature requests :D
maybe live 9 will be the biggest major upgrade since the beginning. i will shame myself if i doubt about ableton for nothing :D

either a new "ableton" product, or a patent lawsuit just waiting to happen……

surely the Abe's have some IP on all this wonderful dev they've done over the past ten years?

what little detail I could find on the Bitwig daw says it's too close to Live for comfort.

In any case, until it's real it's vapor, and until I have hands on, it's urban legend… :)

[edit] one of my first takes on the thing was that it looks like a hybrid of Live, Garageband, Logic (so much dark grey!) and others… taking the best/latest innovations from each, and creating a kind of hybrid DAW…

Live meets Garageband… hmmm, really?

peace.
