I can´t compare it to real phonopreamps, but to my ears it sounds pretty clean!

Just connect your turntable to a line in, ground it somewhere to your soundcard, put the plugin on a track in Live and route the audio to a second track where you record the signal.
For me it sounds ok!

as cool as an idea that is and convenient, it will have horrible audio quality.
an RIAA pre-amp is 'amping' the signal properly, as you probably already know. but what this software is doing, is raising all volumes software wise, so your input which has lets say -80db of noise is being raised through the roof! the noise and artifacts will be considerably higher, extremely higher than if you used a phone pre.

I would resort to using that software only in an absolute must situation.

Definitely highly non-recommended.
