tip: hold down ctrl and click on any one of the track's 'peak meter reading' box to reset them all. start your song, play the whole thing, then you can go back and see how hot each track gets.

I run my tracks a little hot then turn down the master a bit. before mixing I run all my clips dry, I use the above trick and then set each clip's level so the dry clip runs at 0dB.

be wary of clipping in your effects.
