Absolutely. iTunes has many faults, but it handles batch file conversion pretty well.

However, out of curiosity, why would someone want to convert mp3 to wav? Have too much hard drive space and need to fill it?

As someone already mentioned it's for dj'ing purposes. Live converts mp3's to wavs anyway but it's just easier to convert them before hand.

I use to rip my CD to AIFF for that unique reason.

The WAV files loose the attributes of the original mp3 files.
Interesting. The advantage of WAV files is that in hosts that support time stamping, WAV keeps that information, AIFF does not.
Good to know the differences.

It also sounds so much better, I can't stand DJ'ing with mp3's anymore after converting them all to glorious .wavs

and all this time I thought I was the only one who could hear the the difference! my sets are so much warmer now, I can't even describe it. Sometimes for extra warmth I'll rename the file hotinhere.wav.wav.

Don't be silly now.

Everyone knows that the most important thing is that you convert your brick wall limited electronic tunes to AT LEAST 24 bit.

It's just sonically better.

Especially through the Beats by Dre 3.5" minijack on my Dell laptop. It's like music was meant to sound all along, if only we'd known. The man's even better with a soldering iron than he is with lat pulldowns and humming tunes to his keyboard player. Like the Da Vinci of our times.

Not really. The quality has already been lost in the conversion to mp3. That loss of quality doesn't come back when you convert it back to wav, the damage has already been done.

Wav's that have never been converted to mp3 is a different matter, but you can't put back information once it's been taken away.

I think you've missed a whole bunch of recent posts and just spoiled all the shenanigans.

Yeah, like I'm falling for that one...

You'll be telling me that the Pro Tools mixer doesn't help 'gel' a mix together better than Logic's next.

Or that gold plated jack plugs don't make things sound crisper.

Nice try!
