i played my first noise/drone/experimental nonsense gig at a pub in leeds with my brother on bass and a mate on drums. i used ableton and an old bontempi, a kazoo and a rattle. we recorded the set and put some of the tunes (?) online. have a listen if you want. go to www.slatepipe.co.uk and click on the 'liveness' sunflower thing. x

clubs - sometimes i get hired - sometimes i put on nights and play myself. I charge about 100 EUROs for a DJ set with live and 200 EUROs for a "live session" (which is a bit of a rip off because the live sessions are just as easy to play and I only have to play for an hour)

often do Dj sets for up to four hours.

More and more we are playing at our own nights though because it's more fun.
computer (small), musical instruments (many), cables(multicoloured), monitors (two, loud).

Recently, I hosted an event here in Boston, at the Paradise (one of Boston's bigger night clubs). We had at least 10 laptops there on stage throughout the night. Every act, including som Jazz avant-garde acts used laptops.

And as far as people coming out, the room was packed. I was shocked.
Check out the photos on my website. www.computo.us
the event was called E Synthesis Libertas.

We all have to make this happen. A great place to meet people in your area, who are making this kind of music, is Myspace. They make everything very easy for artists, especially for connecting people. Obviously Europe is the hotbed for this stuff, but its our obligation to bring it out, and promote it, or else there will never be a proper outlet. People are interested, I have proof. You just have to make it sound interesting through the right channels. Papers eat this stuff up, because NO ONE does these shows in the states.

Lets make it happen! some one books me!
