Re: Live 8.3 FTW!
i don't get it, why would they change the name of the application to ableton live 8, that makes it sound like it's not going any further which of course it is, then why would it be necessary to do?

I noticed that too, I was looking for the folder when it was the first thing in the applications folder on osx.
The GOOD thing is that when Live 9 is released, Live 8 won't be as bug ridden since they'll want to spend more time fixing Live 9.

Sure, because the people that will complain and raise hell about some update ruining their set up are the most likely to turn off automatic updates. <--- See what I did there?gjm wrote:Only if you don't provide an option to turn it off.Machinesworking wrote:One thing, automatic updates has the potential to bite them in the ass. Too many times does an update make somebodies machine somewhere wonky. Seems like the kind of thing added by people with no experience running a big company; something you might expect from Bitwig or Ohm in their 1.0 release that they remove in 1.1, which is simply bizarre in Ableton's case?
It's a disaster waiting to happen. Sure it's not advisable unfortunately to warn people that updates have the possibility of messing with your particular set up since it points a finger at your own company when it's not always a problem that comes from the host etc. but going a step farther and installing something that automatically updates Live instead of allowing the user to check for updates isn't the answer IMO. Expect users who haven't ever run into an update that hoses their system to feel even more violated when an automatic update hoses their system, and expect the regular forum crew to mock them, yay party... fun.

Re: Live 8.3 FTW!
They should have hired some engineers and musicians instead of hipsters.
Who needs integrated soundcloud upload? A new feature for all the people that don't listen to their tracks after rendering and upload straight away. I don't remember that this was one of the most desired items on the wishlist.
May all our wishes come true:
8.4: Automatically post a screenshot of your current set on facebook
8.5: Import files straight from itunes, beatport and 15 of the most important sample-library-shops
8.6: New device: Twitter-feed, posts updates on your productivity in LinkedIn
8.7: Tabbed internet browser in session view
9.0: Runs in Chrome, Firefox and Opera. Android and iOs. Record session view automation/modulation? Nope.

Re: Live 8.3 FTW!
Automap still not fixed either.
New features are very nice but I wish they'd concentrate on getting Live working properly first.
I remember precisely that being promised a while ago...... seems someone forgot.

hey guys, slightly off-topic but... have you been able to use Launchpad just fine with v 8.3?
I have updated both Automap and Live yesterday and Launchpad looks dead to me now... going back to 8.2 later today but was wondering if this is common...
Cheers!

It's good because it's will not to be a main feature Live 9

Re: Live 8.3 FTW!
I can't even find the upload to Soundcloud option. Even after exporting to wav, and looked all over on the render window.

don't worry it doesn't even work. mine just froze. not that extra few scones to open a browser window was that much of a hassle.
Re: Live 8.3 FTW!
yeah I just use it because I also own the Novation Nocturn... thanks for the feedback, maybe my Launchpad just died then!
