looks like it has a way to go yet, though - uses quite a lot more cpu when spread over 8 cores, from the looks of it.
here on osx, both with the option and without, you see all 8 virtual cores running on Activity Monitor when pushing hard with cpu-heavy plugs (Aalto here) with the same cpu hit regardless.
each core (quadcore i7 here) can be pushed to around 50% when Live will crap out (around 90% showing on its own cpu meter).
good to know its being worked on though

Re: Quad Core Thread Use
Hyperthreading enabled in os as well as ableton? Just a thought. I'm not in a position to check mine at moment. Er, couldn't tell you where that option lives either, I'm afraid.
Re: Quad Core Thread Use
Oops.. the extra cpu is my fault. I'd changed the accuracy setting on DIVA to devine and saved without thinking before running the options enabled test.garyboozy wrote:looks like it has a way to go yet, though - uses quite a lot more cpu when spread over 8 cores, from the looks of it.

Turned it back to 'great' and it's sitting at 44% cpu, not 77% - so there isn't more cpu used when spread over 8 cores..
I'm not surprised that it works in OSX regardless of options.txt, if I recall correctly most of the Abes use MAC hardware over PC.

Yup, enabled in the OS.. Adobe programs never had a prob using all 8 cores, nor did Serato when analyzing tracks.andydes wrote:Hyperthreading enabled in os as well as ableton? Just a thought. The optimal value for the Processing Threads may vary not only for different configurations but for different types of Projects. Selecting the highest value may not always be the best choice. You will need to experiment to determine which setting provides the best balance of performance and reliability with your setup and particular Logic Project.
