hmm, I actually think the advent of the Huge Rock Show, with all it's guitar m*asturbation and pyrotechnics, was the worst thing that ever happened to the acceptance of the laptopper.

while I agree that stage visuals and performance are simply a side note to good music, these days you cant survive as a musician, much less a solo artist, without trying to find ways to draw in non-musicians. I think all of us here know that nothing can supplement bad music. But as far as taking stuff to another level, and trying to take this laptop genre outside of the small niche of people who produce it, is our responsibility.

Lower level performers in all genres have to settle on the quality of their music to carry them up to the next level. Few of us would be able to shell out the cash to have pyrotechnics or dancers on stage with us, so naturally it has to be about the music, but if you cant engage an audience with stage presence, they wont stay or grow.

thats not to defend these eastern european prog rocker wannabes, though!
