Re: Virtual Tape Machines is Here
great plugin im sure but something's effed up if you have to ponder between buying a plugin or an entire daw because of similar price point
its like a car wheel that costs as much as the whole car. sure its a fantastic wheel but is the pricing right though

Re: Virtual Tape Machines is Here
Well I've just listened to the wavs and I can't hear any bloody difference.
Admittedly, I'm on a shit pair of cheap headphones right now.. But for the money, I'd want stuff to sound obviously better on those, too...
Don't think I'll be abandoning my beloved PSP Vintage Warmer any time soon. That really can transform your mix. And it's a lot cheaper. My only 'could not live without' third party plug.

Re: Virtual Tape Machines is Here
While we're on that subject, when is somebody going to make a tape emulator that has obscene amounts of Dolby noise reduction emulated properly, like you hear on old Reggae records?
I don't want subtle, I want to grunge my mixes back to the 60s! I'd pay stupid money for that.

Re: Virtual Tape Machines is Here
The Audio demos are very subtle but you can tweak it till you get 3d space in your sound, make it sound more exiting you can crank it up and get crazy stuff. Theirs lots more going on in the sound.
If you don't have an ilok I would demo the Waves MPX it will give you an idea of what tape does but the MPX is not as transparent. If Slate did not exist I would of baught the Waves MPX.
@timothyallan
I don't work for slate just thaught the Live users might be interested
Seeing as I really like the sound I get from Live with this added.
The UAD Ampex tape plugin is $300
requires the UAD DSP card $500
Slate VTM is $250 includes an ilok2 and if you own any Slate Plugin or a competing tape plugin you get $50 off.
The UAD lot that already Have the UAD Ampex would rather stick with what they already have. Some of them don't want to upgrade their DSP cards and say it sounds as good some say better. Their are cheaper out there but they are not the same quality and you don't get as much.
