Re: Warping/changing tempo/slicing?
I think it's better to export as a file and then drag it back into Live to slice.
Here's why - you come up with a nice piano riff and it's fairly complex and you add some delay and maybe an eq and you have it in your track and then you are looking for some variation and you think "you know what I will slice this up and do some sample mangling" so you freeze and flatten and do your slicing.
And then later on you think you will change your piano midi part and add an octave - but hold on - you lost the effects and the midi part and the instrument and all you have left is the audio.
As far as I can tell there is no way to get the midi back from the flattened track unless you do 'undo' but this will undo your slicing.
Another way is to duplicate the midi track and then freeze/flatten so that at least you can go back to your midi later.
Or is there a way to undo the flattening?

Yeah, i always duplicate midi tracks before flattening. It didn't take many clicks on Undo before I realised that duplicate track was the best option.

I was doing the export thing. Until this thread started and then I thought - yeah flattening is maybe 2 less clicks.
Until yesterday when I wanted to go back to my midi organ, delay, filter thing - no way.
Had to do something different - there was no way I could recreate it:-(
