^ agreed on LA. i have been to cities all over the US and that one feels weird. and not weird in a 'wow girlfriend no one has ever done that to me but keep going' kind of way... no, weird in a 'are these people for real?' kind of way.
i also LOVE the diversity in California... i just HATE the price tag.

One of the places the tour bus stopped (felt like a douche just being on a tour bus) was Rodeo Dr, the second most expensive place to shop in the country, the first being 5th Ave in NYC. I didn’t get off the bus and it felt bizarre putting the country’s 1% on display like it was a zoo exhibit. It was after business hours so not many were walking the streets, but the few that were had their nose high in the air and gave the tourists the “hm, peasants!” glance.
I’m fine knowing places like that exist, but I don’t want to experience it firsthand. Stranger still is it’s not like Beverly Hills is some far off isolated suburb, it’s the center of the city surrounded by the less fortunate.

Ridiculous. You'd rather stay out of their way and let them have their pampered little world without having look at regular people.beats me wrote:H20nly wrote:^ agreed on LA. i have been to cities all over the US and that one feels weird. and not weird in a 'wow girlfriend no one has ever done that to me but keep going' kind of way... no, weird in a 'are these people for real?' kind of way.

Fuck that. Go to the coffee shops and cocktail bars. Be yourself and don't let the arseholes talk down to you. You have as much right to be there as anyone.

Or I can hangout in the other 99.55% of the country that isn't like that while paying 500% less for roughly the same product and service.

Well yeah, there 's that of course. But occasionally I enjoy bringing down the tone of a place.beats me wrote:
