Upgrade to Suite: 249€, to Live 9: 129€ (from Suite 8, I presume).
Edit: According to this:

My assumption was based on the fact that ableton previously stated that implimentation of clip automation would be impossible without a complete rewrite.

Ok, just a tiiiiiny bit disappointed with the "First quarter 2013" launch period.
That could mean end of March, which, right now, is actually five months away. Oh well. Patience is a virtue.

I'm fine with that, got to save £562 (€698) to upgrade to Live 9 Suite with the Push controller. Take your sweet (suite?) time abes and make it bug free and awesome

That's not your upgrade price. It's on the bottom of this page:

According to CDM, beta testing will start "next week".
Will that be a public beta?
I'm ready to rumble.

This could save you MONEY: I don't have Live 8 suite, just the standard Live 8. If I upgrade to Suite 8 today for $179, I will get Live 9 Suite for ... FREE.
If I don't upgrade to Live 8 Suite now, and just want to go straight from Live 8 to Live 9 Suite, the upgrade price will be $334.
Easy choice: I am upgrading to Live 8 Suite today!

Well that answers the 'should I get Maschine' question, then!
