David, the shop page seems to just want to show prices for an additional license. The upgrade prices show at the bottom here, for me at least - https://www.ableton.com/en/live/new-in-9/

I can upgrade to suite 8 download for 164 Euros.
I own 8 standard plus sampler and M4L.
Seems like a very reasonable deal to me.

there is no separate suite 8 d/l vs. suite 8 boxed either now (from what i see) - only 'suite 8'. before, the difference between suite 8 boxed and suite 8 download wasn't just a box (though you can get it from them for $44 anytime), but also the 2 additional licenses required to use session drums & EIC2, and was around $100 more iirc?. the comparison page just says 'suite 8' includes them both, and starting with live 9 it looks like maybe you'll be able to d/l it all from their website, so maybe no box actually needed (though for 50GB of data, you might want one).

btw, here's the word from the ableton website about if you already have max4live (from the FAQ):

I own M4L. I do not want suite. Current upgrade price seems very unfair to me. actually, unaffordable. And by the way, how come i do not see M4l as a licensed purchase on my account page?

There seems to be an logically unlikely upgrade path from Live8 Suite to Live9 standard...

what does that mean ?
do I keep my Live8 Suite instruments and packs+m4l ?
or can I use them only in Live8 ?

While the private prices are a nice personalization touch, I think it would be more fruitful if Ableton were forthright and transparent about upgrade pricing. So, do people who paid for M4L separately get an extra discount on upgrading to Live 9 Suite?

well, just upgraded from Live 8/Operator/Sampler to Live 8 Suite with the free upgrade to 9 Suite. Cost €149. groovy.
but now after upgrading, it says in the 'personalised prices' bit that my upgrade to Suite 9 will cost me €249. it said €349 earlier too.
some fishy business going on...

bought suite download and bought session drums as a separate purchase, but when checking the upgrade it says that session drums is included for live 9, but yeah, i already bought them, does that mean that i have to pay for them again?

honestly, i have no clue how this thing works, and i can't even begin to fathom how the poor M4L addon purchases and operator/sampler etc users are gonna get theirs.

2163 - 1671 = 492 difference for just being positioned in another country?

I went for the same upgrade from live 8 to suite due to 'free' update offer to live 9 suite with max inc. No confirmation about the free upgrade atm.
