Crackling noise in Live?
Re: Crackling noise in Live?
Did you try updating the drivers for your interface? I had this happen to me running Live 9 brand new on my new macbook. Im using maudio profire610 thru a external firewire hard drive with a thunderbolt adapter. Updated my drivers & it went away. until now, my stoopid ass did the mac software update to 10.8.4 and now i have crackles, again.. M Audio has no new driver for the new os... Hoping they drop it soon and it will work as a fix again...
Re: Crackling noise in Live?
i think ableton should invest another year for bug fixing and performance optimizing. i never had an issues like glitches with fl studio or another daw but live is the king of glitches ;-/
it really fucks up to see hear and see that there are glitches while the live cpu meter is @ 30% and my cpu idles @ 5-10%

Re: Crackling noise in Live?
Thanks everyone for their input..rather than start another thread I'll stick with this one. It seems to me that Live is having processing issues handling my instrument plugins. I have 2 OP drives and on the one I use most I'm getting all these different noise issues. One song I have 4 instances of Arturia 2600, 2 of Massive, 2 Impulse, 1 Predator and 2 Subbombass and at various points in the song the cpu meter is up in the high forties going on 50. So putting the sample adjust way up there around 860 or so and freezing the tracks I'm able to minimize the noise...but I haven't done any automation yet and the vocals aren't even in there. I used to get this crap with Pro Tools and that's why I'm now working in Live. I know these are all pretty cpu intensive...but it seemed to me it wasn't an issue 3 years ago....or maybe the projects were just small then?
And check this out: By removing the Overview and playing the session back in session/clip view you can save a lot of CPU power but...what good is that if you're editing or writing automation or even recording audio? I thought Live was cpu friendly? It would've been nice if Ableton support would get back to me in response to my query email WTFIT? It seems to me they need to work on LIVE in this matter.

Re: Crackling noise in Live?
Hi, I know this thread is ancient, but in case someone else comes looking, i was struggling with this exact issue, and solved it by making sure that i was using the correct USB cable for my interface(Presonus Audiobox USB 96). The correct cable has a cylindrical thing on it, I am not sure what is in it, but it fixed the crackling.
