This is the controller I have been waiting for a LONG time.
It would be good if we could keep the price "reasonable" however. Too much internet hype and they'll change an arm and a leg for it. That's what happened to the Hartmann Neuron synthesizer - it was hyped and then the marketing weenies hiked the price to the six and a half thousand dollar range.

Re: MODULAR concept Midi DJ Controller
This idea would be cool if it were implemented as a software application housed in a touchscreen MIDI controller. Of course, it would be a bad idea if you really really like the touchy feely of knobs/faders etc.Boxerfresse wrote:Hi folks
here is the newest modular concept to fit your own Midicontroller,
The MAWZER is the only MIDI controller on the market allowing an infinite customizable combination of controls.
I have been using my touchscreen monitor and find it loads of fun (although there is room for imrovements) so I could tolerate a touchscreen keyboard, drum pads, knobs, faders etc. etc.
I am picturing a Nintendo DS styled laptop where there are 2 screens, the top would be the DAW GUI and the bottom is the touchscreen controller as opposed to a standard QWERTY keyboard. So you use the bottom touchscreen to connect modules together any way you like (like MAWZER) and have at it. Faders, knobs, switches, buttons, drum pads, crossfaders, synth keyboard etc. etc.
Talk about portable and versatile!
What I and a few others have been dreaming about for a long time is a Multi-touch LCD touchscreen whereby you can interface physically with the existing GUIs of Plug-ins and hosts. It would operate just like a second (or first) monitor as far as your graphics card is concerned. I imagine the "Multi-touch" portion would behave something like a "multiple mouse driver" (which do exist) and wouldn't have anything to do with MIDI at all.
For all my research, I haven't been able to come up with any info on the topic of "Multi-Touch touchscreens" save for some casino gaming machines and what looks like a student thesis paper:

Just going to have to file this in the "They Just Don't Make It Yet" catagory...

with a bit of luck the cases will come in various sizes depending on the channel option you choose. looking at how flat the controller market is a the moment and how the manufacturers seem to totally missing the point when it comes to a live controller. the only option may be to build your own. it does look promising.
shame the website doesnt seem to work properly.

Yeah, I saw that thing and:
1- It's way too expensive
2- You need Max/MSP to use it (add $500)
3- You still have to configure it, verses just "touching" the actual GUI
To me, it's just a stepping stone on the way to something better.

dude, you're reading my mind! Want to do a light->resistance type theremin controller? Sure, it'll cost you under 2 quid in parts! Excellent. You could also hook up some cv->vactrol shit to have a midi gate, so you could do accurately triggered fx for your analog stuff.computo wrote:it looks like you could easily hack this thing though, its only 1/8 connectors...you could fuck with this thing proper!!
mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.
I love hearing people complain about having to buy Max, when its the industry standard.
I find that program FAR more invaluable than Live. And having to build your own interface is the entire point of that device and Max all together. Its a far more intuitive performance and instrument interaction with a device you create on your own, for yourself, IMO.
Theres nothing finer than creating your own sine-r...waves, that is.

Sorry to add to the complain about price, but I'm just right now building a wave table and a 8 stage envelope in Bidule. 65$.computo wrote:Theres nothing finer than creating your own sine-r...waves, that is.
If I were a pro audio designer, 500 bucks would be OK, though.
Edit, after some hours: And the CPU is up at 59%. So, it has a cost to go cheep...
