ah, the Chicken Condition - clearly a result of American chickens consuming more than their fair share of chicken scratch. in fact, if these Rhode Island Reds would curb their consumption and limit their intake to that of... say... the indigenous chickens in Africa, we could begin to reconcile some of the great waves of cornsumption taking place in the western hemisphere. the long cold gizzard is over. never has there been such a need to give a cluck. the time is now to take a stand - not to succumb to the cockscomb of lessor Leghorns, but rather to join flightless wing to flightless wing and glide from the fencepost of forced restraint to the barnyards of fresh grain!

As one who comes from a family that's kept chickens, it looks to me like y'all have left out the important (to humans) bit:

Chickens are there to convert leftovers into eggs. (And, eventually, chicken meat.)
