:!: Thanks for the link AdamJay, I hadn't seen that before. A Powercore has been on my shopping list for a while, but I've held off because of the latency problems using it without PDC. Now I can definitely cross it off my list. I was considering bypassing the delay comp problem by rewiring Live into ProTools M-Powered and running the Powercore off PT (which has PDC)...but it sounds like I wouldn't have enough CPU left after that to actually run any music. :)

Has anyone else heard rumours of Waves releasing a DSP box in the near future? I notice they're discounting their Gold bundle upgrade at present...that's usually a sign of something new coming.

i havent heard much about any Waves DSP outside of their Y56k Yamaha AW mixer card. $900 for that thing. yea it would be interesting to see if they made a DSP, but as it is now - Waves plugins are expensive, and relatively low cpu usage, so there's not much demand for DSP. Also consider most of the guys that could afford the DSP and a few bundles probably have Protools and are therefore using the TDM versions of most Waves plugs.

i just got rid of Waves.

i'm using Wave Arts, PSP, and Izotope stuff now. i feel like i have just as much versatility and it sounds just as good as Waves, with possibly a bit more character which is what i want. CPU usage is good too, i've got no complaints.. just happy to be done with the waves upgrade trap, i mean path
:D

majestic... here's more evidence on that Waves DSP you mentioned...

http://www.macmusic.org/news/view.php/lang/EN/id/3232/
$1600 USD...yeouch.
it uses Ethernet so there would most definitely be increased latency vs. PCI

i think i'll get a UAD ;)
