Re: For the love of God - Warping in Live 9...
Looking at the OP's other posts, it seems all he does is complain and swear a lot!!
Surprising that he's been here almost a year and still not figured out warping.

Re: For the love of God - Warping in Live 9...
To be fair, even if you turn off warping, there's still functions in Live that turns it back on for you automatically, whether you want it or not (consolidate, sometimes crop, etc).
I will never understand why we can't loop unwarped clips either....

Yeah, being able to loop unwarped clips would be pretty awesome.

Re: For the love of God - Warping in Live 9...
If Live 9 is too advanced, just do it in Live 8 instead.
Edit: oops. I read that wrong

this thread is too awesome. Also guize ableton can't change tempos ANYWHERE. I'VE PRESSED EVERY BUTTON.

Re: For the love of God - Warping in Live 9...
I tried all the tutorials on YouTube but this is the way to do it best:
Put 1.1.1 wherever and them double click a nearby transient. That makes a warp marker.
Map the w key to tap tempo, and e to trigger the clip.
Important (you will not believe how many times this gives me headache): exit key map mode. If it is all orange, no bueno
Now tap the tempo and trigger clip at the same time while wiggling the warp marker.
If you wiggle it a little, it gets close. And once you catch the beat wiggle it far. Then let go. Onto the next.
Make 30 markers total
Set to re-pitch or cleanest sound
Hit save.

this is the key. it means i cannot use live for 90% of the world's music. period. and i would like to.Tarekith wrote:I will never understand why we can't loop unwarped clips either....

90%????? I'll just imagine that is an exaggeration used for emphasizing your point haha.
It is probably more the opposite.

Re: For the love of God - Warping in Live 9...
I'm having a hard time understanding this. Do live's algorithms really sound that bad when warped to the tempo of the actual clip? (meaning there is very very little warping happening anyway)pid wrote:this is the key. it means i cannot use live for 90% of the world's music. period. and i would like to.Tarekith wrote:I will never understand why we can't loop unwarped clips either....
Also loops for unwarped material is as easy as Cmd D in arrange view, and follow actions in session view.

agreed. I often use Live to learn guitar parts and don't want to bother with warp.Tarekith wrote:I will never understand why we can't loop unwarped clips either....
now that I think about it I could just make multiple copies of an unwarped clip. apply follow mode in Session view or just make copies of the clip in Arrange view by 'painting' multiple clips. workarounds.
loop and warp feel pretty intertwined at a low level in Live. /speculation

Re: For the love of God - Warping in Live 9...
Depends on the warp mode. Complex and Complex Pro definitely alter the sound at the same tempo, not saying it's good or bad, but different from the source audio. Beats and repitch should be identical, I can't remember what Tones and Texture were like in Live 8.Jekblad wrote: I'm having a hard time understanding this. Re: For the love of God - Warping in Live 9...
I do see some applications for having more settings for unwarped clips, and I also do agree that it is odd that they are just missing. But there are ways to do the more basic things where you warp and loop them and have them 'act' almost like unwarped clips.
Best situations for unwarped clips being loopable would be for phasing?? Or for drifting the global tempo, without that change affecting the clip which is looping. It'd definitely be convenient though for quick use in Session View. The two primary workarounds are either SimAmpler or 'delete all markers except one and type the global tempo into that one, highlight duration of clip (if you need to be precise trim clip to size in arrangement view) select whole region in properties and hit Loop keyboard shortcut (orange digit expected) in beats mode' method. Of course the moment you touch the bpm, you have to retype the bpm for that marker :/
But yeah. All the options available for warped clips, most would kind of expect them to be present.. Pretty strange

Thanks Jekblad, I had never thought of using follow action 'play again' for thatJekblad wrote:I'm having a hard time understanding this.
