Atm, Suite is a about what I f'ing paid for Live 8, so on that alone I'd recommend it lol, but Sampler and Operator are worth the extra cost alone, imo, and both of them together cost more than a Suite upgrade iirc.

Have yet to play with M4L.
I don't 'produce.' I write music.

I just got the info that I don't need to upgrade to Suite 9, Live Standard is enough (have Suite 8&m4l).
M4l will be upgraded to version 6 for free.

The suite is good and very complete. My biggest problem with Live devices however is that you cannot scale them to be bigger so that they are easier to see. That said I would much rather use a vst because the windows are huge and easy to deal with.

just get standard and operator - don't bother with Sampler, analog, collision

Sampler can't timestretch, analog - you can do most of this with Operator and the rest well - I sometimes use Corpus but not for what it was intended!!!

Operator is different - it's really excellent and the simplicity of its interface belies the power of the thing.

lol that negates the fact that I like working on my laptop. Besides its cheaper to use vsts and I would prefer to work that way anyway since I had a lot of the vsts before I got Live.

Yeah and you try working with a 55 incher in your lap.

I struggle with my sturdy 12 incher.

Sweet (or should I say suite), thanks for the responses! It looks like suite is the better way to go, I'll spit out the extra cash and buy it.

I think it's theoretically possible but having dabbled in msp programming and max I would certainly prefer to shell out 100 quid for Operator or FM8 rather than spend a few years coming up with my own FM synth!

i thought its easier to do this. u mean the samples integration is to difficult? isnt there a modul to choose which is able to handle every aspect?
