I haven't had many problems with the beta. The only reason I want a client anyway is so I can have something that is hopefully more cpu efficient than a beta
If the current beta isn’t CPU efficient what makes you think the official release will be? Like Ableton would intentionally throttle if for beta testers. And I’d say that falls under “major problem”.

Any beta I have ever used for anything has always been a little more cpu friendly once the official version is released

I read this as people are actually finding bugs. good news. when beta testing and QA run totally smooth, I get nervous.
I wonder who the lucky Push beta testers are, you bastards, all of you. beat the hell out of that thing please.
they'll release when they're ready. Live 8 was a black eye, screw up Live 9 and the whining could very well crash the internet.

honestly though don't hold your breath unless you want session automation cos there ain't much else innit
I may not upgrade - not because of cost (whatever that may be) but there are just not enough features for me to go through the inevitable pain
if you like eq and compression then maybe but the curve drawing frankly is rubbish

My only experience betatesting is with Propellerheads, but I know that the beta versions of Reason have always contained bugtracking code that slowed things down - but they were pretty up front about it and took steps to make sure we all knew that the performance would be affected.

I've beta tested for Props, I am beta testing Live 9 now, I've beta tested for XLN audio, and a few other companies I cannot think of off the top of my head. They have always been more cpu efficient once the release comes out. Live has the same kind of tracking thing on it too when it comes to sending feedback and updating. Ableton left that into TOS for the Beta.

I've got this bad feeling that Live 9, Virtual Bus Compressors, DMG Audio new EQ and Sim City will all come out on the same day. That's my shopping list this year and it looks a bit expensive.

care to elaborate HOW YOU DID IT? I manually copied the presets of my live 8 devices into live 9 library, in two locations to be sure:
D:\ableton live stuff\live 9 library\Live 9 Core Library\Devices\Audio Effects (midi fx and instr. too)
and they just don't show up in live, only the "live 9" ones, the ones I made in previus versions are not shown.
I'm sure I'm making something wrong, but don't know why.

That's what I had to do - at this point I gave up testing the beta.
For me the benefits of 9 were outweighed by the dual library nonsense.
If this is not sorted I won't upgrade.
Last time I tried was about 3 months ago though.
