Quite possible go to live 8 instalation folder, get the icons from the icons folder, redirect short cuts to them, fixed.

I tried to get rid of that ugly blue square with the word inside, but that does not seem to work unless you use a ressource hacker.

Dont try to change the .exe icon. Create a shortcut, then right click on it>properties>change icon and select the other one.

It still looks for an icon file, son't see .png files...

you need a .ico file in Windows.

it can be an executable (.exe) too... but then the icon has to be part of the executable package.

I guess that does not change the icon which sits in my taskbar - because it is so small the font looks very ugly, and I dont't like this blue colour.
