No. It's bad luck and a real shame that you're encountering health problems during one of the UK's most appalling Governments. However, I can't help thinking that all the energy you're expending on maintaining the reputation of an online persona on a music technology forum could actually be put to better use campaigning for disability rights, you know, something you feel strongly about that actually matters. You can discuss what you want where you want. However, the Ableton Live site isn't going to be the place to achieve effective social change and it'd be a waste of time trying. I'd be carefull with the S word, you and I know it is a road to freedom, but in the US it means Maoist labour camps in Idaho. (runs for cover.)

So funken, is it true that you really can't see the reason that you annoy people with your constant pushing of your website and thus why several people at this point have (allegedly) erroneously labeled you as a profiteer? Can you really not decipher that even though you may not make a profit off your website it really and truly does seem like you might because of how brazen you are with spamming about the site? It really does come off as someone who is selling something; like some add campaign thought up in a corporate boardroom. Which is really the irony of ironies since you claim to be a socialist. I'm being completely serious about this now. It seems to me that you have not grasped this at all and I'm just trying to make it very clear what the reasons for some people's criticisms of your promotional tactics are based on.

Some people don't like advertising for ideological reasons. They don't like the idea of people soliciting them for a profit. Some people just get annoyed at solicitation period, whether for profit or not. Now if the people who don't like advertising for ideological reasons see promotional tactics similar to those that they have seen before used for profit it stands to reason that they might assume that these new solicitations before them are also for profit. So you claim they are wrong in your case. Fine, I'll take your word for it. But people on the Internet don't know you and so all they have to judge you by are the promotional tactics, so you really shouldn't blame others for jumping to these conclusions, especially when it seems your own ideological sympathies would be with them. You certainly shouldn't be calling them "liars" because in the cases I've seen that's just a factually incorrect descriptor. These people have jumped to conclusions but to say they are liars implies they somehow know the truth beforehand when in fact there really is no way of knowing whether you make a profit off of your site except for your word, and your word usually comes after the fact. You don't really advertise the non-profit aspect of your site as a whole. Maybe try that?
