Sorry dude, it's getting like Inception in here. That comment was actually aimed at 3 levels up.

I consider you to be MORE than helpful and pleasant on this forum. sorry for the crossed wires, that was just a vent at the ever monotonous fellow in question.

Oops, I somehow confused this with wanting to activate record in arrangement view from Push out of the box. My bad. Of course you should be able to arm and record on audio tracks from Push. Despite all its limitations, that would be simply ridiculous if you couldn't.

Everybody should just sell their Push and get a Maschine. This Ableton/Akai piece of crap can't do anything. I'm so disappointed in my purchase. Why didn't I get a Maschine??? WHY? Ugh. My career is ruined. I can't even chop my breaks from the hardware! I thought I was getting the latest in technology but all I got was this cheap plastic Maschine knockoff instead! It doesn't even automap Massive! How am I going to make fat wobs? The pads are tiny. How am I going to use a three finger technique to tap out dope beatz??? So disappointed Ableton... Push should have it's own DAW but it just works with the same old washed up Ableton Live. Now Maschine... that's a real DAW for ya! I can't believe I'm the first person to bring up this disappointing purchase on this forum. Are all of you dumb???

As it stands Push is the most powerful and creative song writing tool I've had the pleasure of working with. It really has taken me back to the awe I felt writing on my first sequencer workstation when I was 15 years old.
But not long ago, this (above quote) was your opinion..

I've changed my mind. Staring at the laptop is for sissies.

Looks like I can do it if I:
1. Select the audio track
2. Push the Clip button in the top right corner.
3. For the selected track, push the top button.

You should see that the track is now armed.

I think that SHIFT + Rec only works with PXT-Live or the fixed scripts Stray released.
