Yes and they all loved Margaret soo much.. Plus the whole deeper recession that the UK went into while under her rule...
For the record I completely disagree with 90% of her politics but I wish death on no one. She believed in what she did and wasn't anywhere near as bad as Dick Cheny etc.

The country by 77 was absolutely flat out broke. Labour wanted to keep the spending going strong across the board, and increase taxes on the rich.

*The 'rich' at that point in Britain were comprised of The Stones, The Who, and The Beatles.*

All of whom quickly (and smartly) began moving their money offshore.

Meh, there has and always will be a ruling elite in England. You know this. They didn't get rid of their queen they put her on a very expensive dole. :x
The dukes and duchesses went on to own all the major industry in that country. This isn't anything new.

There was still massive unemployment and poverty in the UK in the 80's, Thatcher etc. like most rulers isn't responsible for any economic recovery any more than Reagan burying us in debt helped, or Clinton's luck with the tech boom was somehow his doing.

the Royal Family pays property taxes... the fuckwads in office in the state won't even give us healthcare... but they all have free health care for life on our nickel. :?

there is no comparison beyond - they speak English and we speak English.

You lost me at the second sentence. The UK and USA are probably the most alike countries on this planet in terms of still buying into a war time economic model, colonialism, arrogance, innovation, divide between the rich and poor, language, culture etc.

Dukes, Duchesses... Queens that pay into the tax system. there is nothing of the sort over here. i'd bet our politician's receipts would make Britain's ruling class look like a bunch of tightwad fickle coupon cutters.

these attributes are shared with nations whose inhabitants have brown skin too.
but that doesn't matter in this thread. save it for the navy has lasers thread!

At this point we and them are the countries most likely to "free" Iraq, Afghanistan etc. Other countries have had colonialism but we still practice it.
Countries with brown skin have different problems and systems than the UK and USA, we stand alone in our similarities.

Most of western europe has moved on, we have not.

Onion headline material.

Or we could make idle threats towards North Korea, stir them up and inflate our own military at a time when we should be trying to get rid of debt etc.

i know what you mean about Korea. i heard a blurb on NPR on the way to work the other day. it was about how happy everyone is in North Korea... or at least how happy they seem to be. it sounds like a regular renaissance over there. meantime we're all pissed because they have a pistol and that threatens our sniper rifle mentality. fucking pathetic. anything to keep us from focussing on our own bullshit.
