Is there some kind of gas that shoots out the air vents as soon as the engine starts that makes the driver feel important and indestructible? Maybe there’s low level subliminal “You are the best. Not sure what made you post this but I learned this the hard way last month when a BMW driver from the suburbs swung her door open while I was riding home from work on a designated bicycle thoroughfare. My leg got injured pretty bad (still can't walk properly) but I couldn't believe how rude and obnoxious she was. She didn't even apologize and didn't seem concerned how badly hurt I was and was immediately complaining that she was already running late when I asked her for her insurance info and actually said "we don't have bike lanes where I'm from" (which she was wrong about) in a tone suggesting she was annoyed, as if that excuses her dangerously neglectful behavior, and then just walked away from the scene even though I asked her to stay to file a police report.

Can't they charge her with a leaving the scene of an accident violation?

Oh and good on you for taking it to that level.

I was listening to a discussion about unreported rapes at Burning Man because the closest rape kit is like 2 hours away, they don’t want to stop partying, and by the time they leave they decide to just write it off as a unfortunate moment in an otherwise kick ass time. 8O

I ended up with her insurance card because she didn't want to bother waiting for me to find a pen to write it all down. The cops said that as long as she provided her info, she didn't need to stay.

Cool.

I don't know where you live but in cities like SF (and I'm sure NY) there's always the feeling that an all-out war is going to breakout between car drivers and bicyclists. They are both keenly aware of the other’s existence and rights.

Heard on the radio this morning there were 2 cars racing in a neighborhood Wednesday afternoon. One car ended up on the sidewalk and the other plowed into a house injuring a woman in her kitchen.

Both drivers were 17 year olds driving BMWs.

It is also a well known fact that BMW drivers

- make all their tracks exclusively from pirated Vengeance samples
- and Euro stabs
- and cheesy female soul vocals
- in less than one hour per track
- on Fruity Loops
- at 16 bits
- and leave no headroom
