It seems though that there are not as many high tech products from France as one would expect from such a highly developed nation.
I blame it on their perceived cultural superiority, exactly like it is portrayed in the Reuters article.
I'm confused. Do I stand here accused of being a
right wing conservative or republican?

i was walking through a giant parking lot looking at all the French cars.

oh wait, there were no French cars.
i'm not bashing France... this is some real shit. the last time i saw a Peugeot it wasn't exactly a new piece of French cconomy sustaining engineering... just like a 69 Camaro doesn't do much for the U.S. economy today either.
i suppose if i dug deep enough i could find some over priced cloths or some wine... but purchasing them

fuck that. i live 20 minutes from Napa and import tax is not a true expression of status quo no matter how badly Puff Daddy argues otherwise.

It's not like we'll know the difference soon anyway. A bag of actual, real, good French Roast coffee is so ridiculously expensive now that it is practically only sold as a gift. And you'll know the difference if you drink that shit. It's been roasted dark as hell but the caffeine content is still enough to make you shit yourself. We don't drink good coffee in the U.S. post-2001.

I live in a small village bordering France and can confidently say that most Frenchmen drive French cars. Not because they're good, mind you, but because they're French.
I also hear that incest is on the rise.

Ah got'ya, you were talking about Airbus the French/German conglomerate providing about 50% of all passenger planes in the world.
Good example of France not being behind on technology, NOT such a good example when you talk about corporate "socialism" and waste of tax payers money though...

My point was, is and has always been that socialism is all about financing individuals/industries that couldn't survive on their own merits. If they could, they wouldn't need the hand out, and as they do, they don't deserve it.
It is socially neglectful to promote the unsustainable; it is morally reprehensible to encourage the undesirable; and it is financially suicidal to invest in the unsuccessful.

Secondly, also looking at the airplane industry:
Explain how the free market would even get up the primary investment to start such a competitor? The free market works reasonably well in the consumer industries, but it fails in so many others. Nuclear energy, airplanes, health care...etc.
And this radical anti "socialism" stance of your kind would prefer to have neither of those rather than being impure in your free market wankery.
I come from a real (arguably) socialist country originally, and let me tell you: that word you are using? It does not mean what you think it means

Big hairy man bollocks. I "singled France out" because of the tax that's currently being proposed. Or are we no longer permitted by your socialist overlords to discuss specific cases? It
is, on the other hand, dishonest of you to cite my citing of the airplane industry in this case, as it was not me who cited it. I can hardly be considered dishonest for citing something I did not cite, now, can I?
Luckily for you, your last sentence about "my kind" (racist!), is probably too opaque to be dishonest. Having said that, if you are suggesting what I believe you are suggesting, I'd suggest, for the sake of making your case proficiently, that you first address my previous comments. Not that I expect you to, mind you, "your kind" has a very poor track record when it comes to intellectual rigour.
By the way, my eyes are bluer than yours could ever be, so it is absolutely unthinkable that you should ever even mention blue eyes. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT MEANS TO HAVE BLUE EYES.
Boo-fucking-hoo.
