OS 10 + Audio Editing = Peak.
If you come from the world of Soundforge (Damn I wish this was on OS10) Peak is a suitable replacement.

i'm with am on this one. i've been doing most of my editing in Live using clip envelopes and consolidation. i rarely use Sound Forge now.
it opens up a whole new world of love
Check this Ableton tutorial for a start

Audacity really is worth a look, apart from covering most editing bases, there are some very nice 'Nyquist' plugins for it that are capable of generating some great waveforms for the Simpler. The interface looks a bit simple and clunky at first but if you take a closer look, there's actually quite a bit going on under the hood.

I'm sampling from records and all I want to do is cut the sample down to 1 or 2 bars I use to do it in Cubase 5 and Logic, but now I'm OSX and need something that supports core audio. i just simply want to create loops.
Roughly cut out the loops in Sound Forge and set the loop points in Ableton. If you want to cut out individual elements of the loop, I would use Recycle.
Whooo

i thoug recycle is just for reason!!

im at work rigthnow, i cant whait to go home to play whit recycle what a shame

Another vote for Recycle 2.1, or just Live itself, depending on what you want to do of course.

seriously, if that's what you're trying to do Live is simpler, 3x faster, works awesome.
why pull up another program when you dont need to
?

yeah man, instead of exporting as rex file, you can also choose export as individual samples.
