as others are suggesting, use a compressor to accentuate parts of the envelope

fast attack = more body or tail

slow attack = more transient or punch

varying the release will add more variations

Dude, I'm pretty sure that it was a TNC response to another post.

EDIT: Yep, my sarcastic comment was right above. Tom and I may not be best of friends but it's pretty obvious he cares about his tools.
