I was looking for another hypothesis, that maybe the limits of human consciousness prevent them,er, us, from not destroying ourselves after a short period of (cosmic) time.
Like basically our issues with ego and identity make us create constructs that in the end self-destruct, so far, every time. But we don't need to go there here.

I'm only about 30 pages in. I'll read some more tonight (I have a tough time just sitting at the computer to read)

Kinda interesting so far. It's mostly language about what they've done, how hard it might be to decode, etc. Nothing yet about actual conversations

It's so fucking hard to communicate with aliens. I tell them to vacuum under the table and they don't understand. I tell them don't use the leaf blower by our vehicles on the driveway and they still don't fucking understand English.
