I really like DJ Tech Tools as well. Ean Golden has been doing really good work over there. I like that dude, he seems super accessible, not at all pretentious, and the content he puts out is really helpful.

Seriously though, I do love DJ Tech tools, but the application of the midi fighter 3D does seem a little odd to me as well. Who am I to say though, man. To each their own.
