About the bass - it depends. As a general rule with these - if it sounds just a little more bassy than usual on the 600s, there's probably too much bass, judging by past experience. They're very close to neutral (I don't think true flat phones exist, correct me if I'm wrong)from 100hz to 4khz, yet don't sound harsh or anything. There is a fall-off starting at around 100Hz, yet you can still hear subs pretty well. Though you can be sure your subs will be overpowering if they're prominent on the 600s.
Hm, that sound pretty much like my current experience down to about 45 Hz (without using a headphone amp).
But it's probably a matter of degree.
(below 45Hz it feels more like pressure than sound and attack is almost non-existant, that's where the speakers become absolutely necessary)

See also a bit more detail in my previous edited post regarding these phones.

even if I love my old ADAM P33A which I have since 8 years and I know inside/out, I sure would love to hear barefoots in action, or K+H 300, but being skint I don't dare auditioning them in order not to stimulate GAS which I could not feed anyway.
I don't have headphones in the studio, I really don't like using them.

If you know your Hifi really well, that might work, but I still think for checking the bass the one remaining monitor is still the better choice. Bass is mono anyways.

Check out the Focal Pros too, amazing headphones, best I've used in awhile. I like closed back headphones though.
