Same here

Edit: I am happier with 9.1.6 though, it shows less problems. I had to disconnect my USB audiocard more often with 9.1.5 to load some saved sets

No crashes here, other than the one every other day probably due to VST and/or M4L, but never on startup.

Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit
Live 9.1.6 32bit (planning to go 64 bit with PC upgrade)

My Live default template on startup:

M4L Convolution Reverb Pro with EQ enabled x 2 Return tracks
Live's delays of varying configurations in racks x 3 Return tracks
Master channel: u-he Satin, EQ8, Live's Limiter
One MIDI track containing a rack with Live's arpeggiator, M4L Keyboard Control 2,Bazille, Satin.

Sadly theres no available download link for the previous version.
Do you have any M4L devices in your startup set?
Yes I do, and I think that's the problem. My template set has the Convolution Pro Reverb in, and an LFO.
I would agree. I have the same issue and it can take 2/3 attempts before it loads. I have found that leaving my system after bootup for 5 mins before trying to load Live helps.

Hey folks,

as always with such issues, please contact Ableton Support and send in your recent crash or status reports. Only this way, we can investigate and detect possible problems.

Best,

Torsten

I sent a dozen or so crash reports, and I contacted tech support.

Hi Torsten, be reassured that I'm sending the crash-dumps off to support each time, this is just our community support and hand holding session ;-) If anybody else is not sending crash-logs back to homebase then please do so.
My other outstanding issues will need me to send a video over demonstrating the issue, and I'll need to find time to do that clearly.

For the first time since the initial release I have some serious issues with Live 9 as well. 9.1.6 causes random crashes on my system. Not very frequently, but frequent enough to be annoying. Though I'm not using M4L I also have a large project, which can only be loaded in 9.1.6 after 4-10 attempts, because it keeps crashing. So you have to restart Live and try again and again... I've sent an email to Ableton and asked for a download link to 9.1.4 which runs rock solid on my system. My problems started with 9.1.5 and became even worse since 9.1.6.

Thanks for the warning headline, kb420!
These are serious issues. I updated to Live 9.1.6 and in the process I accidentally unplugged my speakers. Now there's no sound! I can't see my desktop with that Paris Hilton DJ pic because Live 9.1.6 is blockin my view. Why wasn't I warned?

You must all now stop using Live all together! You hear me? Just stop.

Seriously, your problem is limited to 32-bit Windows 9.1.6 for one large project. You could try reinstallation and if that doesn't work reinstall 9.1.5 on this machine, no?

Have you tried starting a new project and then use the browser and move in all these tracks?

Hope I'm not stating the obvious but while Live can be auto update, max for live requires manual update which is currently 9.1.6.

I've not had any problems since it auto-updated me. (not sure when that was, but noticed my latest version is .1.6)

I really need to turn that off though...

Ehm, I think you mean Max for Live 6.1.9?

I was going to suggest you could use the Download archive, but it seems Ableton in their infinite wisdom only have the latest of every major version available there. I'm not sure I agree with that. I know there was a reason why I prefer to download and save installers for previous versions to letting live update itself.

Surely someone have Live 9.1.4 Windows 32bit and can share? I don't think that's against licenses or anything.
