we just wanted to let you know that all the spam posts have been deleted, as also the user associated with them.

Whereas we try to make sure that we deal with this type of problems as quickly as possible, it is not always possible for us to spot them in real time, which is why receiving notifications from you guys is and has been really helpful.

Also, the issue of the recent spam episodes is something that we are aware of. Looking into options for the registration process however might take a little bit of time, but it definitely is something that is being discussed.

Lastly, in regards to some of the posts here, please note that the Community Guidelines still apply, so please do stick to them.

My Live license is bought with my credit card and is directly tied to my person.

My account here is made with a throw aways e-mail adress. The reason is that I don't want any of the things I post here to hunt me down in future decades when viewed through the eyes of an unforgiving bureaucracy.

You can all call me paranoid, but I know that this will happen again

And you always log in only using a VPN tunnel you run on your own server in a rack that only you personally have access to the logs of, right?

Because I heard that some fools are logging in using their actual IP addresses from their ISPs, without going through 7 proxies!!! Don't they realise that logging in to any forum leaves an incriminating trail of IP addresses that are directly trace-able to your ISP account.

I agree Tom, There's no way I'm letting the New World Order in on my thoughts on side-band compression, or whether I feel latent automation is as big an issue as group clips. The powers that be will have to make do with merely listening to every single phone conversation and email instead. There's no way they are getting access to this treasure trove of incriminating information.

I'm not that unreasonable to expect that I'm enough of a target now to keep total logs of me.
I know that the changing of IPs in the huge IP blocks that ISPs constantly cycle through is enough to protect me for now.

For better or worse, I have given my opinions quite openly on many other things here than just on Audio related stuff.

Opinions about things that my life experience has taught me, can get really hot and problematic with just a few minor changes to society. Changes we are witnessing all around us nowadays in spades!

So the fact that governments as well as other actors will take liberties if they can — which they can only if we let them —  is an excuse for not being careful? Do you look to the sides when you cross the streets? Do you use a password to your machine or other access means that a guy with the right application can't deduct in five minutes? This is the same thing. Lazy people put themselves and people they know at risk.

No. what I am saying is you are not being careful. If you think a Gmail account and a public proxy is any kind of protection at all then you are play acting at being careful. If someone is using a gmail account that is not protection against data mining, it is not "being careful". If you want to be careful then be careful, but do it properly. Don't tell me "I am careful, so I don't want X,Y, and Z". You are not careful, you are pretending. So you are worse than unprotected.

There is literally no "safety" difference between signing up with your Ableton registered mail account and a Gmail account as far as data protection goes.

THAT is my point.

If you want to be careful, and intend to be careful, then perhaps actually be careful. Perhaps learn about the systems you are interacting with. If you really feel so threatened by having your data online that you determine that your only course of action is to construct aliases, etc. Then really ... G mail accounts? My god. public forums? the open internet? Free proxy sites? All of those things are like walking around in a warzone while wearing a Tshirt with the words "I'm bulletproof" on. Worse than pointless.

Those things are not making you safer, they are just making you feel smarter while acting dumber. It's a fantasy masquerading as a plan.
