2c audio aether, very simple, very effective
Also native are giving away replika at the moment- very nice for a free vst. Recommended.

As a delay?

Perhaps not exactly what the OP would like, but here's one Tape Delay, the
Waves J37 Tape, currently on sale at $99 ($249). I tried it and didn't buy it, but I was mostly interested in it for tape emulation.
For my purposes I prefer Dub Machines.

Another tape delay inspired Waves delay plug-in that is perhaps a little more suited to the request from the OP is
Supertap, costs $100. You can do really cool things with it. Maybe it's a tad more complex than a few buttons, but really all you need to do is map controls to your MIDI controller.
For more button intuitiveness there is
H-Delay Hybrid Delay at $150. It sounds really cool actually.
As both these are part of the current offer until the 31st for Waves Gold at $199, that is the wise option if you want more than one plug-in. I didn't get Gold precisely because I already own Dub Machines and preferred other plug-ins for other tasks, but both these are certainly viable alternatives as delay units.

Stromkraft wrote:I'm sorry if I was unclear that you just need Max For Live (comes with Live 9 Suite) in order to use M4L packages including delays, reverbs and other effects and instruments. You download the main MaxForLive installer from Ableton, not Cycling74, unless you update ahead of Ableton. I've never seen anything about PACE, so I doubt that is involved. Even if I am on OS X, I find it unlikely M4L would require PACE on Windows.
Stromkraft, on your Mac you have:
/Applications/Max 6.1
/Library/LaunchDaemons/PACESupport.plist
/Library/Application Support/PACE Anti-Piracy
/System/Library/Extensions/PACESupportFamily.kext
???

Some more button madness that I haven't tried myself.
Waves Manny Marroquin Delay currently offered at $49 ($100). Multiple delays in one unit and some modulation options too. I think I'm going to try this actually. I love modulation.

Damn, you're right! I thought these belonged to some other plug-in I tried as a demo though and were inactive. So I got ilok with Live Suite without even noticing it? How's that possible? I certainly don't remember any PACE stuff even when updating to M4L 6.1.9 recently . But I installed the whole package then, so it's possible this came with it.
The dates on these files doesn't make sense though. I have no license files in /Library/Application Support/PACE Anti-Piracy/License Files/Activations. Shouldn't I have that if PACE was active? I see no processes running either with ilok, interlok or pace in the name.
If I open Max it's says my demo has expired and that I should open M4L from within Live. If I click "authorize" it's possible it will call up PACE. I seriously doubt it will stop M4L from working if I remove PACE now.

There's no mention of PACE by Ableton here:
Setting up Max for Live with Live 9.

OK, I investigated the Max installer with Pacifist and it does indeed contain the interlok extensions. The PACE stuff is probably in the EULA no-one reads.
So this takes all the M4L alternatives off the table for those who don't want this on their machine. Unless M4L checks for this, it's likely to work anyway once installed. Need to test that though.

I got the "Do you want to install PACE Anti-blah blah" during Max for Live install so I clicked "no". Got an install error dialog, dismissed it. In a nutshell, this was the career of Max on this PC.

Well, you are doing something wrong.
Max for Live 6.1.9 does not require PACE! You need Max for Live 6, not Max 7.
BTW, it is impossible to keep a computer clean from "pace" unless you are really strict and hyper-anal in what you install. So many old installers still install pace even though they don't use that system anymore (overloud comes to mind instantly)

@OP: I don't know what "grand canyon" delay is unless you combine verb and delay.
Echoboy is the most flexible delay I've ever used......but it's ilok and pricey.
The mentioned H-delay is terrific, but not sure you can get a "grand canyon" effect out of it. Plus, I'm pretty sure that waves is another one of those former pace companies that installs stuff even though they don't use ilok anymore. Don't have a computer to test that theory on though.

FWIW I have never used PACE with any software including all versions of Max I have used that include it (Max 4–6) and I have also never run into any problems with having it installed automatically with Max.

Yeah, so what? It fits what the OP was asking for pretty well (esp the bigger version).
